Ceiling Fan Replacement
Pro ceiling fan replacements are normally $325 (customer provides fan).
Steps to Replace a Ceiling Fan
Turn Off Power
- Switch off power to the fan from the circuit breaker to ensure safety. Use a voltage tester to confirm no electricity is flowing to the fan.
Remove the Old Fan
- Climb the ladder and detach the fan blades first to make the motor easier to access.
- Unscrew the canopy cover at the ceiling to expose the wiring.
- Disconnect the wires and carefully lower the motor.
Remove the Old Mounting Bracket (if needed)
- If the new fan comes with its own bracket, unscrew and remove the old one from the electrical box.
Install the New Mounting Bracket
- Attach the new mounting bracket to the electrical box, ensuring it’s securely fastened to support the fan’s weight.
Connect the Wiring
- Match the wires from the ceiling (typically black, white, and green/bare copper) to the corresponding wires on the new fan.
- Use wire connectors to secure the connections (e.g., black to black, white to white, and green to the grounding wire).
Attach the Fan Motor to the Bracket
- Lift the fan motor and secure it to the mounting bracket. Some fans come with a hook to hold the motor temporarily while wiring is completed.
Install the Fan Blades
- Attach the fan blades using the provided screws. Be sure to tighten them evenly to prevent wobbling.
Add the Canopy Cover and Light Fixture (if applicable)
- Secure the canopy cover over the mounting bracket. If the fan has a light kit, follow the instructions to install it.
Test the Fan
- Restore power at the circuit breaker and test the fan and light functions to ensure everything works properly.
Balance the Blades (if needed)
